The story

About Louisville

Louisville was settled in the early 1800s. Its place on the Tennessee River helped it grow into an important flatboat and steamboat port, and it was incorporated in 1851. In 1974 its downtown was listed as a national historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.

Today it is a suburban town in Blount County with about 4,400 people at the 2020 census, and it is part of the Knoxville metropolitan area.
