East Tennessee / Knox County

The Area

Knox County TN Real Estate

Knox County was created in 1792 and named for Henry Knox, the first United States Secretary of War. The county grew around a fort built in 1786 by James White, which became Knoxville, the first capital of Tennessee. The Tennessee River begins in Knox County, where the Holston and French Broad rivers meet.

Knoxville is the largest city in East Tennessee, home to the University of Tennessee, a busy downtown, the riverfront, and a lively food and music scene. West of the city, Farragut is a well known suburb with parks and neighborhoods. North and east of town, communities such as Powell, Halls, Karns, Corryton, Mascot and Gibbs offer a quieter pace, more land and room to grow.

Knox County is where many East Tennessee families settle for work, schools, hospitals and shopping, with the Smokies about an hour away. Whether you want a condo near downtown, a family home in the suburbs, or a few acres out where it gets quiet, you can find it here. Pick a community below to see homes for sale.

I spent a good part of my life running like a bull, only to eventually discover I was standing in a china shop. I broke a few things. Fell down more than a few times. And somewhere along the way, by the grace of God, I learned that getting back up can teach a man considerably more than never falling in the first place.

So, if you're looking for the normal Realtor bio, I should probably apologize now. This isn't one.
