Cocke County Tennessee Homes for Sale

East Tennessee / Cocke County

The Area

Cocke County TN Real Estate

Cocke County lies on the eastern edge of Tennessee, in the Appalachian and Great Smoky Mountains. The first recorded settlement came in 1783, near where the Pigeon River meets the French Broad. Early settlers came over the mountains from the Carolinas and up through Virginia, and the county was formed in 1797 and named for William Cocke, one of the state's first senators.

Newport, the county seat, sits on the Pigeon River and is the center of town life, with shops, restaurants and a small town feel. Cosby is the gateway to the northeast corner of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, and Hartford is the easternmost community on Interstate 40 in Tennessee and is home to the state welcome center.

Living here means mountain views, creek and river frontage, and a slower pace than the busier parts of the region. It is a good fit for buyers who want a cabin, acreage or a quiet country home within reach of the national park and Interstate 40. Pick a community below to see what is for sale.

I spent a good part of my life running like a bull, only to eventually discover I was standing in a china shop. I broke a few things. Fell down more than a few times. And somewhere along the way, by the grace of God, I learned that getting back up can teach a man considerably more than never falling in the first place.

So, if you're looking for the normal Realtor bio, I should probably apologize now. This isn't one.
