Tazewell is the county seat of Claiborne County, named for the Virginia town of the same name. In 1750, Dr. Thomas Walker publicized Cumberland Gap, and long hunters came down the Clinch and Powell valleys into this area.
Today it is a small town with an easy drive to Harrogate, Cumberland Gap and Norris Lake.
