GOOD TO KNOW

Facts worth knowing

Good to know: THDA’s Great Choice loan is a 30-year fixed rate loan for buyers with a credit score of at least 640. Its Great Choice Plus help can add up to $6,000 or $10,000 as a forgivable second loan (forgiven after 10 years), or up to 5% of the price (max $15,000) as a 0% loan you repay. A homebuyer class is required for the down payment help, and income and price limits vary by county.

Good to know: Sevier County set its 2026 property tax rate at $0.87 per $100 of assessed value, down from $1.48, after a reappraisal raised values an average of 75%. Homes are assessed at 25% of appraised value. As an illustration only, a home appraised at $400,000 is assessed at $100,000, so the county share is about $870 a year. Inside Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg and Pittman Center, a city tax is added on top.
